I have tons of basil in the garden but not too many other things so this is my favorite thing to do with lots of basil.
Stir fry with tofu, onion, green beans, basil and 2 serano peppers with a sauce of soy sauce (~1/4 cup), flour and sugar (~one tbsp of each). I like to add basil a little bit at a time throughout the frying process. Then at the very end I add the sauce and the peppers (cause i hate it when the peppers make you cough). Yum! its pretty spicy so if i eat it hot I have to put it over rice but if its leftovers then i can eat it plain. Yum!

PK and Violet still don't get along that well.
PK has this new cute spot that he hangs out in most of the day. We have a tubberware of shoes under the bed and pk crawls into the lining that is on the bottom of the box spring and then into the box. I can peak in at him and normally he sticks his paw out at me.
violet likes to sleep on a box holding old CDs of mine in our closet. So somtimes the kitties are both in my room at the same time! Awesome!

PK in the news
PK has had lots of exciting things happen recently but I've been to tired (because i was in the process of getting sick) to write about it in his blog. First, last tuesday we moved PK by bike trailer to Davids house! My house was getting new dogs and I'll be moving into davids house officially in the next month so it was a better place for him.
We had to keep him in the basement away from Violet for about a week. Sometimes if Violet was in Davids room we let PK come up and explore.
I'm about to watch my man on tv with david. Not Thor, The Colbert Report. Now I've mentioned all 4 of my men in one blog post. So more about PK later.

End of winter (sorta not really)
This was the first tree to get flowers in this famous park in japan. I've been taking the waterfront home in afternoons and checking on the hanami stitch there, I'm starting to see little nubs of future flowers yey! Also I saw tiny bulbs that had flowers. After the pretty flowers its berry season!!!!
While looking for that photo I found this one that I should have put on my blog long ago.

so sleepy
After I got staph, he felt nervous that i still had staph but didn't have any symptoms, cause its sneaky like that. But that I might give him staph. He wanted me to go to the doctor but i knew theyd just give me antibiotics and all my garlic eating would have been a waste. So I went to the naturopath school.
It was awesome. I went twice, and its cost less than $200 dollars and theyve fixed so many things. First i got my staph test and im staph free! They also said I had high vitallity. They taught me some seeds I can eat certain times of the month to make my cramps less horrible. I got some oil to put on my swollen lymph node and they told me about some foods to eat to make sure i get all the good vitamins w/ my vegan diet. Awesome. Highly recomended.
Ive been listening to lots of pod casts. Here's the list of ones I listen to somewhat regularly:

Miracle
I'm having a lot of regret because about two weeks ago I realized I was having a staph infection. And I really should have been taking pictures of its grossness every day. If you need to know how gross it was I did show a lot of people.
But anyways I'm writing in my blog again because an amazing thing happened. After I realized I had a staph infection (thanks to alia!) I started eating super healthy, nothing processed, no sugar and no wheat. And tons of garlic and ginger. At first David and I were just putting excessive amounts garlic and ginger in our stir fries but then I read on the internet that raw garlic is way way better. So after like 2-4 days of eating 4-8 cloves of garlic it was all the way better. i showed it to jaime and it was at the end of its goopy times, and like 6 hours later i show it to someone else and it was a scab, a boring old scab thing.
I highly suggest using raw garlic if you get a staph infection (which it turns out lots of people have but didn't realize it), I probably saved a bunch of money by not going to the doctor. Oh and you shouldnt use antibiotics cause the staph will just get stronger and learn to fight it and eventually kill you!!!!!!!
yey garlic!

desperate
PK and I are on the lookout for a roommate again. I don't like roommmate shopping one bit, so if you or someone you know might be interested... i'd be pretty pleased.
I've been craigslisting soo much. David and his roomies are looking for a new house. They had one in the bag only to find out their credit scores were: very poor, poor and fair. I was so proud of david for being fair, way to go bf!
Other than craigslist I've been watching the tour de france. go thor! Thor is in the green and white w/ the beefiest thighs. He had the green for a day, hopefully he will again.
PK has been doing something crazy for him, not finishing his food. If I sit by him while he eats he normally does but if i wander off sometimes he doesnt. Interesting.
The garden is awesome. I've been eating snow peas and broccoli every day. Today the zucchini are in bloom yey! I'm going to go hit refresh on my craigslist pages now.

The stupidest book
I love reading self helpy type books, and books that are mostly lists. Since I've been super aware about saving the environment recently I've been skimming books to make you "greener." I got one from the library called "green guide" Opening it up I saw it was published by National Geographic and thought that might be a good sign.
The first chapter was on food and said the ususal, local, organic stuff is better. It didn't mention a lot of other things like buying in bulk and being concious of packaging. Then it started saying not to eat toast because it has some cancer causing agent.
I'm not sure but I dont think being Green is about not getting cancer, unless not geting cancer is a byproduct of saving the environment. It was around then that i noticed that the writting was only taking up like 80% of the page, if this were a truly green book they wouldn't waste paper like that.
I skimmed ahead and saw a section on doing laundry. It was pretty disappointing. It didn't mention not washing your clothes as ofeten and only had one sentence on line drying your clothes and two paragraphs on going out and buying a new energy efficient washer.
At that point I decided to set the book down and bitch about it online somewhere, but before I did I checked out the section on bicycles. The last paragraph says "Before heading out for a ride check your local Air Quaily Index a way that the federal goverment tracks and reports air quality.... On days with particually bad air quality, your best bet mayb e to avoid logn exposture to the air outside your home or workplace."
What a bunch of crap. I really should have known better.

PK hunts.
Today I was about to start working in the garden (which has been doing excellent in the long days) with PK. He pounced on the bushes and I assumed he was chasing a mouse that managed to get away then he pounced again and i heard squeeks, then pk looked at me proud w/ a mouse wiggling around in his mouth. I screamed and ran into the house.
After an hour or so I figured it'd be over so i went outside, but PK had a funny look in his eye as he was sitting by the garden. I approached cautiously and a mouse peeked his head up and PK batted at it. I went back into the house.
I saw PK laying under a car later and hoped the mouse was able to find a hidding place so I let PK in, but im sorta grossed out by him so we arent hanging out right now...
Update: PK got back outside and the mouse was in the same place. I got PK back inside and then went out and made sure the mouse was gone and now PK and I live in harmony again.

My 100th post.
So Jennifer and I put our ad on craigslist for the free half box of wine we have left over from Jen's birthday 9 weeks ago. You can check out the ad here: http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/zip/727156019.html
It's been about a half hour and so far no one has picked it up however, a car did drive by, pull up next to it, sorta park, turn around and park a few houses down the street a few minutes ago. We came inside cause we were getting bitten by bugs outside but can still check up on it through the window. I'll keep you posted.
Update: At 10:30 Jen and I walked to the gas station and it was still there! Then I went to sleep really early and couldnt check to see if the local winos had tracked it down durring the night. But I was just out watering the garden and its still there! WTF. This is free wine people!
Update 7:10pm 6/21/08: The wine is still there, probably because as Catherine pointed out in her comment, our ad was flagged for removal. I made a new ad which you can read here: http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/zip/728106870.html.
Update 2:45pm 6/22/08: The wine was taken! I saw it when I left the house at 10:30ish, and it was gone by morning. I guess I should update the craigslist posting to let everyone know its gone. Yey!

Work stuff.
http://www.jackjohnsonmusic.com/allatonce/explore That's a link to a cute video about my work on the website of Jack Johnson who is some music person I'm supposed to know but don't. My work is Bonneville Environmental Foundation, you can use the filter at the top to find it if it is not at the top anymore. We get a dollar if you watch it all the way through.
I like my work a lot. Today was cookie day. I had a chocolate cookie w/ chocolate chips and a lemon bar. yum. My boss is going on vacation at some point, that will be interesting cause i spend a lot of my day walking up and down stairs asking her questions.
School is over and I'm not going to summer school this will be a first time I've been out of school without a moving or travel related reason.
Pictures of PK soon I promise

A Robot Story
Since Jennifer did tell this Robot story in her blog I'll tell it in mine.
The other day robot stole this calculator out of my room and brought it to his room. which is weird because its not a food product. But it wasn't just any calculator, I got it in japan and it had a drawing of two naked men touching each other. People in Japan said they were called "gay boys" and were popular characters.
I wanted to take a picture of it but I can't find it so maybe robot stole it again. haha.

summer!
pk is very excited for summer. He is losing lots of hair so I got him a brush. It helps a lot. I don't know if he likes it very much so I brush him while I feed him.
I also got a new collar for him so he doesnt have to wear violet's old girly collar held on w/ a safety pin, but i havent put it on him yet, when I do I'll make him pose for some glamor shots.
We worked in the garden today and made some good progress. I started getting this tarp full of dirt into the new bed and PK chased the rats that lived in the tarp of dirt. I was scared cause thats icky and tried to make him stop but i guess thats what he does when im not around so i guess its okay. Jennifer and I finished it off so I'm glad that the rats will have one less place to live.

Fuck you gigantic root plant/weeds
David and I decided that we should have a day where we don't hang out after he gets off work. Then he can do things like go for bike rides or work on bikes or hang out with violet or other things that I don't need to do. I like to call it Davie-only day even though it serves the same purpose for me. Yesterday for Davie-only day it was super sunny and nice, so when I got home from work I put my homework on hold and worked in the garden a ton. Here's some pictures of our garden beds. I don't have a picture of the bed we moved from the last house, its a story in itself.
This bed has snowpeas, collard greens, a corn stalk, an onion, red lettuce, spinach and broccoli.
The second bed has a tomato, onions and broccoli.
This one isn't done yet, but has strawberries, snowpeas and brussel sprouts. Lots of starts and things I don't know where they are going yet sit in this box.
I was excited to find a spearmint plant in the yard yesterday. I've heard from neighbors that some old people used to live here who gardened a lot, so I expected to find some herbs toughing it out. I hope that they weren't the people who planted or allowed to live this ridiculous gigantic root plant i've been weeding everywhere. When i first weeded the garden beds I got one that was about as wide as my arm, David was pretty impressed. Yesterday I got a most gigantic one, It did break off underground but it was at least a foot down so maybe I'll have a month before I'll have to weed it again. I was so proud I took a picture of it.
Yesterday was the first day the spinach was tender enough to eat raw, so that was pretty exciting. I also went on a mini cleaning spree inside the house, sweeping, shaking out rugs and recycling. It must be spring time yey! More veggie tales soon.

PK looking sharp
Today it was really nice out so I took a lot of pictures of PK. I was trying to get a photo of his new name tag. I got it for free at the Vegfest. In case you can't see it's a cat holding a fish and I hand wrote his name, address and phone number on it. It was a shrinkydink. Those are awesome.
Even though PK has a gigantic shaved spot still he's still shedding pound and pounds of fur. I spent a long time outside w/ him today scratching and petting him as much as he would allow to get as much hair off outside as possible.

Funny Hungarian Bike to work PSA
This was on bikeportland.org, so some of you probably already saw it but I thought that Alli and Phil (if hes not stuck in disneyland jail) might think its funny.
This is a picture of my desk at work. Obiviously I cleaned it off before I took the picture. I also have a shelf and file cabinet I hardly ever use. I've been trying to think of something to post in my works blog and now I've finally got it, I took a picture of all the bikes in the basement and I'll talk about how May is bike to work month. yey!
Yesterday David and I went to Uwagimaya in Beverton. It's not as big as Fubonn my normal asian grocery store, and not nearly as close, and not as cheap, but it has some things that fubonn doesnt have. I'm most excited about the broiled tofu, the deepfried airy tofu and the tofu w/ onions in it. Yum. Still going to Beaverton is so lame, so I think I'll stick to fubonn for grocery shopping at those times when I won't feel too guilty for not eating something more local.
and what post would be complete without more pictures of PK! That's PK's old lost tag featured there. I should get him a new one soon cause he's been wearing violets rhinestoned collar that I had to safety pin shut cause his neck is so much bigger than hers. I was trying to keep him inside today after getting home from work because finally the landlords brother was cleaning out our garage and we didnt tell him that we also had a cat for fear of the pet deposit growing. PK is sorta being a jerk about it and starts meowing whenver I close my window even though its pretty cold and loud outside.

A story about Robot. (hes the big spotted one)
One day Jennifer swore Robot was extra crazy. He was jumping on and off the bed a lot and running around. I couldn't tell the difference personally but I did notice him having peeing issues. He would stand and try to pee for long periods of time, he also peed in the house which he hasnt ever done before, to my knowledge. Days later I realized I had lost about 2 pounds of chocolate covered espresso beans that I had left in my room. Robot had eaten them. I was surprised he didnt have a doggie heart attack. The end.

Today I did weird things
Today I was walking my bike while I talked to my mom on the phone and I saw a cookie on a stretch of deserted sidewalk w/ only two small bites taken out of it. So I picked up the cookie and ate it.
Today PK was sleeping next to me and I put some of the hairs that fell out of my head on him. It's my revenge for him constantly shedding on me.
Good things like cake!
It looks like we finally found an awesome roommate who wants to live with us! Elias Grey is his name (at least on his email) and he makes bike bags. Yey! Finally new house chores are almost complete.
I also met with someone from 1,000,000 bicycles about helping them and it was encouraging. We met at a fancy bar w/ 3 dollar drinks. I had blueberry infused vodka w/ rhubarb syrup, yum!
I then had a good time drinking w/ Jaime and then we went to sushi where I ate more sushi than I ever have before! 7 plates! sugoi!
PK has been sleeping near my head, its super cute. (right now he is washing himself and i can smell his cat food breath, not so good)
The garden is growing faster as the days are getting longer. Yummy veggies here I come! I also have house plants now that Jaime and I got from IKEA I'm excited about them.
Bike Farm has been more inspiring and cool than frustrating and I've been meeting pretty cool people there. The grand opening is soon and thatll be a fun party.
Then casey's having a fundraiser party and im so down for that.
And my work is having a 10th anniversary dinner and it should be pretty sweet.
David has been fixing up my red bike for the summer, I have new shiny things.
The only bad thing thats happened is that I forgot to feed my fish in fish tycoon and they all died, but now i sorta get to start over so thats cool too.
